A GROWING embroidery company has invested £60,000 in UK-first machinery which improves productivity levels by 20 per cent to meet increased demand for its services.

Wigton-based Stitch & Print is the first in the UK to introduce four high-tech Happy Japan HCU2 Embroidery Machines into its business to facilitate a sharp rise in orders from clients across the country.

The investment comes during a period of significant growth for the business which has recently enjoyed back-to-back record years, resulting in the creation of two new jobs.

Richard Mattinson, a director at the firm, said: “Stitch & Print’s workload has increased significantly in recent years so to enable us to meet the rise in orders we needed to invest in machinery more advanced than our previous equipment.

“After receiving specialist advice from our accountants Saint & Co about the tax implications, we felt as a business that we were in a position to invest in some high-tech technology from Japan which is 20 per cent faster than our previous machines.

“The quality of stitch is amazing and we are really happy with the top level of service we are able to provide to our customers throughout Cumbria and the wider UK, and we’re excited to grow our client base even further.”

Will Robinson, an Account Manager for Saint & Co overseeing the company’s Wigton office, worked with Stitch & Print to advise on the tax benefits linked to the investment.

He said: “Saint & Co has enjoyed a strong, trusted relationship with Stitch & Print for the past 20 years, and our clients’ best interests are always at the forefront of everything we do.

“To be able to assist the team and help them understand the tax implications of such a major development is a great feeling, and I’m looking forward to witnessing our neighbour’s continued growth following the introduction of the sophisticated embroidery machines.”

Stitch & Print was founded in 2004 and provides embroidered workwear and branded uniforms to businesses, organisations and schools throughout the country. More details can be found at www.stitchandprint.co.uk.

In addition to its office in Wigton, Saint & Co has offices across Cumbria including its headquarters at Rosehill Industrial Estate in Carlisle. Its other regional bases are in Penrith, Ambleside, Whitehaven, Millom and South West Scotland.
