Company law requires limited companies to file their accounts with Companies House within 9 months of their year-end. Failure to do so will result in penalties being issued.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak and the advice to self-isolate, Companies House have said they will give an automatic 2 month extension to the filing deadline for all companies, should they need it, with the possibility of a further month if companies can demonstrate extreme circumstances.
If you think that you may be in this position then please act now. Although the extension is automatically granted you still need to apply for it, and this application must be made before your current year end accounts need filed – i.e. you cannot apply for the extension if your accounts are already overdue.
